The United States has decided to temporarily lift the embargo on arms for Vietnam. They are doing this in order to help Vietnam defend their nation from other invasive countries such as China. The Chinese military has been improving over the years while Vietnam has been left alone, sitting in the same spot for years. The U.S. wants to ensure that Vietnam does not succumb to the Chinese assertive movements. This brief lift help both Vietnam and the U.S. by providing protection from China, revenue from Vietnam, and keeping a healthy relationship between the two countries.
I thought this was a good idea on the U.S.'s part because they gain more than they lose from relieving the embargo. They gain revenue from Vietnam, protect them indirectly, and keep them as an ally. The U.S. is like the mother helping her own children to learn and grow to become their own independent person. The U.S. should serve as the catalyst to promote growth within other countries so that they can become self-dependent. From this small step of temporarily lifting an embargo, can emerge a better, healthier relationship between Vietnam and the U.S.
This article show the development the feelings between Vietnam and the U.S. The relationship between the two countries is becoming more trusting and positive, rather than in a negative light. This shows the healing from the Vietnam War and how both sides can overcome past difficulties and develop positive feelings. Each side is growing from one another to improve both of their conditions. With continual efforts to mend the wound, Vietnam and the U.S. could form a good bond and have greater potential for success within the future.
